End of the Year Update

O...kay. I still read my F-list frequently. Not daily anymore, but more M-F while at work.
I know what’s going on with most of you, I’m sorry I don’t comment much =/
Alright, so, let’s pick up where my last life-type update left off:
September
Spent a week in Michigan. Spent a few days with my Dad out at the Lake (insert photos?), saw some friends then headed up to Irons to relax before packing up my Mom and moving here down here. Very little else of note for this month, intending on taking my A+ tests by the end of the month, still wasn’t ready, so I held off.
October
Continued to study my ass off. Started talking to my friend Rouxx more and he had just finished A+ plus a few other certifications for the Navy and offered to, while he was on leave and in the area, help me study. He brought me his mothers desktop which I completely disassembled, cleaned and reassembled while we caught up and he gave me tips on studying. I took both my tests on the 29th and passed them. So damn happy!
November
Applied a few places and started chasing ‘who you know’ leads. Sat with Talaer one afternoon after he helped steer me in the right direction of getting my resume and info out there for other companies to contact me. That was super helpful since I’ve never done anything like this before, Carter’s damn near plucked me out of college so all the hard work was done. Started poking
kwik and OhioHealth more. MFF happened and it was exactly what I needed, I had so much fun
December
After much run around (literally, Columbus is 8.5 hours from here) and lots of help from
kwik I landed 2 interviews with OhioHealth. Unfortunately, they didn’t want me. The reason given was “we are looking for people who can expand more than that role”. Which was a bit of a slap to the face for me, since in both my interviews I felt I made it clear that I didn’t want to get stuck at a helpdesk for long, I WANT to learn everything I can about whatever I can get my hands on. I’m a sponge, let me soak up the knowledge. Holidays happened and because I didn’t intend on still working here/being in Georgia I didn’t plan for any time off around them, so I stayed home with my Mom. But I did have a visitor for 5 days, which was very nice and well needed :)
January
Continuing my quest to relocate back to the Midwest, I reapplied at Trinity and my Mom is pulling whatever strings she can there. I’m also, constantly, poking some guys at the company my cousin works for, I’m told they need help but they suck at returning emails and all we’re trying to do is coordinate a phone call! They seem interested though (and the position is remote). I talked with a coworker and she’s going to see if her brother-in-law needs help at his IT company or know anyone that does. I’m going to have to start expanding my horizons to whatever is around here I’m afraid. My lease is up the end of February and while I can go month-to-month I’d prefer not to do that without a 3rd person in the house so I can continue to save money. I hate being in limbo. Just moved departments at work, back to Boy’s Sleepwear which is full circle for me at the company, I’ve worked for every SBU at this point. I should’ve made a new years resolution to attempt to update here more, especially now that I have things to share!
Also, my birthday is this Sunday.

Date: 2013-01-15 02:06 am (UTC)I wish I could help you out at my company, but my division in Columbus is small. We have one desktop guy. The main group is based in Omaha.
It would have been great to have you out here. Perhaps you can get a second look sometime with Rob's company, or with one of the other hospital groups here (OSU would be a good one).
Look forward to seeing you again at FWA!

Date: 2013-01-15 02:57 pm (UTC)I appreciate the thought all the same :) I'm spending this weekend pushing resumes out all over the Midwest so we'll see if anyone bites.
If I do FWA it'll likely be Saturday only, it's not a con I planned for as I didn't think I'd still be here. I may see if anyone has crash space that evening as it draws nearer. My next planned con will be FCN and I hope to see you there!
